Whether it’s raiding with your friends or swinging by an RP club,Final Fantasy XIVhas so much content there feels like there’s no shortage of things to do. Among the various activities you can partake in, one of them is treasure hunting.
This is an act where you can group together with friends, or do it solo if you’re looking for a challenge, and get some spectacular rewards from it. It’s not like game-changing rewards, but mostly cosmetic items or crafting materials. It’s something players have been interacting with for quite some time, and in the latestDawntrail7.3 patch, we got a huge update.

The latest alliance raid is finally upon us, but do you remember where things last left off?
What is Treasure Hunting in FFXIV?
Treasure Hunting has been an activity players have been able to do since A Realm Reborn, as gatherers can find mysterious timeworn maps in the soil, and by deciphering them, they are able to find some spectacular treasure.
This is something Square Enix has evolved over the years, introducing portals that you can hop into, putting you through various mini-games to hopefully get even more goodies. With the latest 7.3 patch, we received a new set of Timeworn Garagatuaskin Maps, which now allow access to the Vault Oneiron mini-game, provided you’re lucky enough to get a portal.

Where to Find Timeworn Gargantuaskin Maps?
The big question is, where can you actually obtain these Timeworn Maps? Well, there are a couple of ways – specifically two.
As always, Timeworn Gargantuaskin Maps can be obtained by using your level 100 gatherer and going to specific nodes in hopes of a Timeworn Map showing up. For this, they are specifically found in Living Memory, meaning you’ll have tocomplete the Dawntrail expansionto gain access to these.

On top of that, you will need to find the correct nodes that harbor them. For Gargantuaskins, the best you can do is teleport toLeynode Aeroand head southeast to a batch of Botanist nodes(X: 18.6 Y: 16.4). It’s not guaranteed to be a Gargantuaskin Timeworn Map, but all you need to do is continue your search until you find one.
Marketboard
As you might imagine, Timeworn Maps can be obtained and sold. Head to any marketboard in a town and search for the Timeworn Gargantuaskin Map. You will be able to purchase one, although at the moment they go for quite a bit of Gil (500-600k).
Restrictions to Timeworn Maps
With that said, there are restrictions on Timeworn Maps. For starters, you can’t have more than one in your inventory at one time. You can decipher one and have another in your inventory, but you also can’t have more than one in your key items, either. It’s best to keep one deciphered, one in your inventory, one in your saddlebag, and one in each of your retainers to maximize your daily maps.
Speaking of which, you’re also restricted to how often you can gather maps. Every 18 hours you’re able to dig up a new map, which can be tracked under your “Timers” menu under “Next Map Allowance.” This means that you won’t be able to farm the content right off the bat unless you want to shell out the Gil.
