Even though the comedian’s time onSaturday Night Livedidn’t last very long back in 2019, funnymanShane Gillishas quickly come to reclaim his throne in the world of comedy since then. Launching his own web series alongside John McKeever calledGilly and Keeves, releasing his first special calledLive In Austinas well as landing a recurring role onPete Davidson’sBupkisPeacock show– these accolades launched the 36-year-old back into the throes of the mainstream audience.
Without skipping a beat, Gillis collaborated with Netflix to produce the first six episodes (which make up the introductory season) of a workplace comedy calledTires, which he entirely self-funded. Who could have guessed that the dynamic between employees in an everyday mechanic shop could be so funny?

The Talented Cast Behind Netflix’s Tires
Read Our Review
Whilethe humor ofTirescertainly keeps steady throughout thanks to the well-talented cast– some of these names include Steve Gerben as the unfortunate son who now has to steer his father’s failing Valley Forge Automotive chain, Shane Gillis as his obnoxious cousin and Kilah Fox as the stubborn and cold receptionist – a lot of the show’s underlying likability comes from the fact that theraunchiness and vulgarityreminds audiences of comedies from the 2000s. The show is even being compared to the early years ofSouth Park– just brought over to a live-action space.
In saying that, though, fans of Shane Gillis’Tiresare now wondering what lies ahead for our mechanic crew. Gillis’ character is not leaving to work at a window pane company, the garage is not being shut down due to some rather creepy, misunderstood words, and Steve’s father is finally giving the go-ahead to his son regarding his cheap tire sale (hence the name of the show). With all that being said, let’s look at some of the hilarious stories that could take place in the second season of Shane Gillis’ Netflix exclusive series.

Exploring The Father and Son Dynamic in Tires Season 2
As much as fans are pretty much in unison about the episode count hopefully becoming longer whenTiresreturns (10 to 12 seems to be the wishful consensus) and the series finding itscomedic high pointsafter the first episode, the show seems to be breathing a new life into the comedy genre. Between the bikini car wash that had a rough start (they wouldn’t get into the shipping container), Shane starting all sorts of rumors about Steve (one of which was about Steve and his friends doing some indecent things to each other at Applebee’s) and the infamous whiteboard incident (the derogatory terms ended up terrifying customers),Tirescomes out of the gates ignoring by the safe humor protocols that are usually seen today.
Shane Gillis' Saturday Night Live Return Proves Divisive Among Fans
After being fired from the show in 2019, Shane Gillis returned to SNL as host and delivered a cringe or hilarious performance depending who you ask.
In going all the way, though, where do we go from here? There are definitely numerous characters that Gillis and his behind-the-scenes team can expand on in future entries that fans would love to see. Besides phone calls and hearing his voiceoff the screen, the only time the audience ever met Steve’s father was in the season finale. Considering the father-son dynamic wasn’t really explored, the upcoming season could not only expand this relationshipbut could also dive into how Steve’s dad interacts with the rest of the gang. There will certainly be some hilarious miscommunication between him and the Andiamo Auto salesmen, Schulz and Tommy.

Buying Out Valley Forge Automotive
Speaking of uncharted subplots, the Belmont branch seems to be in a tense rivalry with Steve and his crew at West Chester. Since they are always focused on the work at their respective garages, our characters only ever have over-the-phone conversations with their arch-rivals. While that certainly plays out comedically well, the other team should be featured more in the second season. During all the foreseen hijinks and competitive nature, the audience could find out more about the heartwarming bond thatbrings our castof characters together in the first place. If the second season does in fact have a larger number of episodes, one of those episodes could easily revolve around Belmont’s men doing something mischievous in order to even the odds.
11 Highly Dysfunctional TV Workplaces
These TV shows may provide comic relief to us, but imagine actually having to function within these psycho work environments.
The season finale ofTiresshowed us thatfather and sonare now leading their failing business together – but that does not mean we are out of the dark tunnel just yet. Plus, the potential buyout from a fellow auto company called Marilyn’s Mufflers (yes, you read that right), along with whoever else might come along to make a quick buck, will be waiting in the shadows. All fans agree that once Lydia came into the shop (played by Diana Cherkas) from Marilyn’s Mufflers, the comedic rhythm ramped up even more. Imagine what that would be like if that happened numerous times in the same season.

Currently slated for release sometime next year, followers ofTiresalready can’t wait for the likes of Shane Gillis, Steve Gerben, Chris O’Connor, Kilah Fox, and Stavros Halkias to return to thisunique workplace comedy. Until then, the six-episode first season ofTiresis available to stream onNetflix.
