Lucasfilm has givenStar Warsfans two new TV spots forThe Rise of Skywalker. Both brief spots provide fans with some previously unseen footage. One scene in particular makes it look like Chewbacca could be in some trouble as Rey shouts out his name. If J.J. Abrams killed off Chewbacca, heads will roll. There’s no way he would do that, right?

Anthony Daniels wanted J.J. Abrams tokill off C-3POinStar Wars 9, but the director denied his request. Elsewhere, the new TV spots show the gang reuniting, along with Rey using the good ol' Jedi Mind Trick on some Stormtroopers as Finn and Poe look on confused. Poe wonders aloud if the young Jedi has ever done that to them. All in all, the latest footage teases more action and lets some of the humor out to the surface.
J.J. Abrams provided fans with thefirst official Star Wars 9 clipearlier this week and it featured the flying Stormtroopers on the desert planet of Pasaana as they chase down The Resistance. The aforementioned footage is also integrated into the new TV spots too. Abrams revealed that scene takes place early on in the movie, which is more than likely the case for the majority of the footage we’ve seen thus far. This is a typical marketing trick to make sure viewers don’t end up seeing all of the best parts in the trailers or TV spots.
Lucasfilm andDisneyare highly secretive about theStar Warsfranchise, but J.J. Abrams is definitely a lot more forthcoming with information for the final installment in the Skywalker Saga. He isn’t going out of his way to spoil anything, but Abrams revealed the return of Emperor Palpatine in the first trailer forStar Wars 9. Much like Baby Yoda inThe Mandalorian, Palpatine’s return could have been something that the crew kept a secret until the movie was released, but they made the bold decision to announce it right away. At the time of the first trailer, Abrams said he was shocked that it hadn’t leaked beforehand.
