Dune: Part Twoto Get Lengthy IMAX Run

Every studio strives to secure big screens for their movies, and IMAX is a major player in providing such screens. However, it has been confirmed that the highly anticipatedDunesequel will run in IMAX for a period of five to six weeks. As a result,The Marvelswill not have access to those screens when it opens on November 10th. IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond said,

“There’s another great movie coming out around that time, which is The Marvels from Marvel, and we can’t play it because we are committed to Dune. So, if Dune moves, we will just go over to The Marvels, and having a Marvel movie as a backup is not the worst position to be in the world. But in terms of Dune, my own opinion is that it’s highly unlikely to move, and it’s an educated opinion, meaning I spent a lot of time on the facts.”

This sucks. I totally get that DUNE is the priority (as it should be) but this film DESERVES to be seen in IMAX. I’m all for a delay if they give this movie IMAX screens.https://t.co/56NleDNIXs

I wish Dune Part two had October 20th slot.

I agree. The Marvels should take Feb 2024. But both of them will probably end up being moved. I just hope they won’t be released on the same month….

I’m a little surprised. The Marvels will be the bigger hit. First one made over a billion. You would think it would get some IMAX screens

— ChancelorP (@chancelor_p)June 08, 2025

If shot in IMAX or partially shot in IMAX, all movies should be seen in IMAX. It is the best version of the film.

— Puck (@mattpuckett16)June 25, 2025

I don’t mind not seeing a marvel film in IMAX because I loved captain marvel, but after some of the phase 4 content and ant man 3 and secret invasion,i don’t feel confident.

— Brave (@Bravedude2023)July 28, 2025

The Marvelsis currently slated to hit theaters on July 25, 2025, whileDune: Part Twois currently scheduled to arrive a week earlier on August 10, 2025.
