Henry Cavill is one of the most celebrated actors in the film industry, who has appeared in numerous incredible films throughout his career. While the list of iconic roles portrayed by Cavill is long and fulfilling, there is one iconic character who is untouched by the actor.
According to filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, if he ever gets a chance to direct a Bond film, his first choice would be Cavill, as he sees him as a perfect fit for the role of 007. Interestingly, this vision isn’t one way, as Cavill has also shown interest in playing the James Bond character in previous interviews.

Ian Fleming’s novel character James Bond is undeniably one of the most popular fictional characters of all time. The iconic character has been brought to life by various actors over the years. And according to filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, there is one more actor who can be added to this list.
During a round table press event of his filmKing’s Man, (viacomicbook.com) Vaughn expressed that if he ever gets a chance to direct a James Bond film, he would cast Henry Cavill in the lead role. He said,
“Henry Cavill, that man was born to play Bond. When you see how he is in this film (Argyle), I was just like, ‘Wow, this guy is everything you’d imagine Bond to have been, or be.'”

However, his vision seems a far cry as Vaughn believes that James Bond makers will never let him direct the film. Although he didn’t specify any reason for saying so, he did share his admiration for the Bond series by saying,
“I don’t think the Bond people would touch me with a stick. I don’t think- They don’t like me. I don’t know. You know, to be blunt. love Bond. It’s obviously a huge influence on me…You wait till you see Argyle.”
Vaughn isn’t the only one who is a fan of the Bond series and has envisioned Cavill in the lead role, as Cavill is also as enthusiastic as Vaughn to see himself portraying the role of 007.

Henry Cavill auditioned for the role of James Bond
Indeed there has been great buzz for playing the iconic character of James Bond ever since Daniel Craig announced his retirement from the Bond series. The list of contenders who look forward to playing Bond is undoubtedly long, and that list also has the name ofHenry Cavill.
Cavill has often expressed his enthusiasm to play the iconic character. Interestingly, Cavill also auditioned for the role of James Bond inCasino Royale,but he was rejected for the role since he was too young to play the character, as Bond is expected to be a man in his 40s. The role was ultimately given to Daniel Craig. During an interview from 2019 (viacomicbook.com), Cavill recalled,
“I probably could have prepared better. I remember the director, Martin Campbell, saying, ‘Looking a little chubby there, Henry,’ I didn’t know how to train or diet. And I’m glad Martin said something because I respond well to the truth. It helps me get better.”
However, today, since Cavill is at the right age, he can be a great fit for Bond’s character.
