Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2has proven to be a smash hit, annihilating sales milestones and establishing itself as one of the most popularWarhammer 40,000games to dateDeveloper Saber Interactive is well aware of its success and is acting to solidifySpace Marine 2‘s reputation.

Since the release ofSpace Marine 2, many in the community have positioned it as a lesson for the entire gaming industry as it broke away from many industry trends and bad practices. However, with a recent update,Space Marine 2has absolutely ruined everything the game stood for.
Space Marine 2‘s Free 4K Texture Pack Update Needs a Monster of PC to Experience
There’s no doubt thatWarhammer 40k: Space Marine 2is a fantastic-looking game that captures the feeling and awe of being in an epic large-scale war. However, Saber Interactive took things to the next level for those who want the game to look even better when playing in 4k.
Recently, the studio dropped a free 4k texture pack forSpace Marine 2.While it certainly elevates the game’s graphical experience, you’ll need some serious GPU and SSD hardware to take advantage of the enhancements.

Weighing in at a massive 85 GB, the 4k texture pack forSpace Marine 2is even bigger than the base game, which normally requires 75 GB of storage, including the art, voice, music, and other crucial updates.
That’s not all; the 4k texture pack also ups the minimum and recommended specs for theSpace Marinesequel. When we talk about the CPU side, the Minimum specs with the update have jumped from AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or Intel Core i5-8600K to AMD Ryzen 9 5900X or Intel Core i7-12700.

For GPUs, the Minimum specs have been taken from AMD Radeon RX 580 or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 1060 to AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080.
These spec bumps to enjoy the 4k texture package are a lot, and if you think Saber and Focus are kidding, reviews on Steam strongly suggest otherwise. Those with the best machines say it looks gorgeous, but most of the players who have underpowered systems are struggling quite hard. It’s high time for Saber to wake up and realize it has messed up.

Saber Interactive Still Cares AboutSpace Marine 2Players
Although Saber might’ve completely dropped the ball when it comes to the 4k texture pack update, it’s still trying to do its best andnot fall into the abyss as Arrowhead. On October 17th,Space Marine 2received the 4.0 update, which turned out to be quite a disaster as it nerfed various things in the game that fans.

The game’s 4.1 update, released on October 24th, rolled back various changes introduced in the 4.0 patch and brought additional buffs to even more fan-favorite weapons. That’s not all; the studio evenrevealedthat a Public Test Server will be available in 2025 to gain more feedback from players to prevent such mishaps.
