Shift Up, the South Korean studio behindGoddess of Victory: Nikke (2022)and the hitStellar Blade(2024), has officially renamed its upcoming multiplatform project.
Shift Up Renames Its Next Project: Project Spirits
Formerly known asProject Witches, the game will now go by the titleProject Spirits.
Described as a “subculture” game inspired by Eastern fantasy,Project Spiritsis scheduled for a global release in 2027.
On its official website, the studio presents it as its new flagship IP, emphasizing that it will be a high-quality title in line with its track record of successful franchise development.
An Open-World JRPG Powered by Unreal Engine 5
Alongside the announcement,Shift Up is currently recruiting talent forProject Spirits, its next major title afterStellar Blade. Ideal candidates should be proficient inUnreal Engine 5, have experience with Japanese RPGs and anime-style games, as well as expertise in designing open-world environments, large maps, and complex dungeons.
On the previously mentioned official website, the studio has also unveiled the game’s full concept art, which can be seen at the beginning of the announcement. The visual style appears consistent with Shift Up’s established design philosophy.
“Alongside the recruitment campaign, the game’s artwork and logo have been revealed for the first time.
The project has been officially renamed fromProject WitchestoProject Spirits, and this is the first time the new name has been made public,” the company highlighted.
It appearsProject Spiritsis being developed as a multiplatform title for PC and mobile, suggesting that, at least for now, it may not be coming to PS5.

“We want to create a game that can impress players around the world with talent passionate about subculture genres,” said one of the developers.
Meanwhile, as this new project from the creators ofStellar Blademoves forward, it seems they may also be exploring ways to bring Eve toXbox and Nintendo Switch 2.
