Samsung - the world’s largestsmartphone manufacturer- has a fight on its hands to retain market share and the Samsung Galaxy M series is part of the solution, adding a pair of affordable devices to the portfolio.
Designed especially to appeal to young people - millennials - in India, the Galaxy M comes in two forms, the M20 and the slightly lower spec M10.
The Samsung Galaxy M series are going to be availablethrough Amazon, with Manish Tiwary, VP category management at Amazon India saying: “The India-first Samsung Galaxy M series will resonate well with tech savvy millennials seeking powerful devices.”
The Samsung Galaxy M series debuts a new display style for Samsung with the Infinity-V, a waterdrop style notch on the front, rather than the Infinity-O punch hole rumoured forthe Samsung Galaxy S10.
The key specs for the Galaxy M20 are a 6.3-inch full HD+ display, with 2340 x 1080 resolution, Exynos 7904 platform and fingerprint scanner. There will be 3/32GB or 4/64GB variants, with support for microSD expansion.
Perhaps the most exciting thing is the massive 5000mAh battery, with a 15W charger in the box and USB Type-C on the phone for a speedy recharge.
The Samsung Galaxy M10 drops down a little to a 6.2-inch display with an HD+ resolution (so it’s probably 1550 x 720 pixels), Exynos 7870 and no fingerprint scanner. It will come in 2/16GB and 3/32GB versions. It has a smaller 3400mAh battery.
Both phones have a dual camera on the rear with a main 13-megapixel camera accompanied by a 5-megapixel wide-angle lens. There’s an 8-megapixel front-facing camera on the M20 and 5-megapixel on the M10.
Both phones run on Samsung Experience UX 9.5 and they will be available from 15 July 2025 in India, as Samsung looks to compete with the likesXiaomiof sub-brand Redmi for volume sales in affordable devices.
