AlthoughNaughty Doghas yet to officially confirm a release date forThe Last of Us Part II, a recent Facebook post by Sony Sweden suggests that it may be sooner than we thought.
The Last of Us Part II may be out in 2018
Neither publisher Sony nor develeporNaughty Doghave officially announced a release date yet. However, Sony Sweden has already listed a release window for the game.
A post on the Facebookpagefor Sony Sweden statesThe Last of Us Part IIis out in 2018. They also say thatGhost of TsushimafromInfamousdeveloperSucker Punchwill release in 2018. This isn’t quite a confirmation and Sony has previously gotten dates wrong. For example,God of Warhaving a March release date on the PS Store that was later changed to April 20th.

However, it does give hope for a 2018 release date. If it’s true, expect a confirmation at E3 2018 along with more footage.

The Last of Us Part II nearly didn’t happen
We almost didn’t get a sequel toThe Last of Usat all.The Last of Usdirector Neil Druckmann confirmed that previous attempts to continue the story were rejected for not being special enough. He said:
“Like many of you, we have a deep love for the world of The Last of Us and its characters, and while a sequel may have seemed like a foregone conclusion, that wasn’t the case. We knew that it needed to be a story worth telling and, perhaps more importantly, a story worthy of Joel and Ellie,” he wrote on the official PlayStation blog. “After spending years on different ideas (and almost giving up), we finally uncovered a story that felt special—a story that evolved into an epic journey.” - Neil Druckmann, The Last of Us II director.
By many, the ending to the original game was considered to be perfect. So I can understandNaughty Dog’s concern about whether or not to continue the story. I’m personally kind of glad that they did but still a touch nervous.
Naughty Dog may be adding a dog to The Last of Us Part II
In otherThe Last of Us Part IInews, Neil Druckmann posted a photo of himself on Twitter next to a dog in a motion capture suit. This does suggest that there will be a dog inThe Last of Us Part II. But will it be a friendly pet for Ellie or will it be a naughty dog?
The Last of Us Part IIwill be exclusive to the PlayStation 4. If you haven’t already done so, you still have time to completeThe Last of Usbefore the sequel’s released. I highly recommend doing so.
