The upcoming expansionBattle for Azeroth(BFA) will be coming toWorld of Warcraftin a couple of weeks, but before that happens a pre-patch will roll-out this week on July 17th 2018. There are a lot of changes coming with the expansion, here are a few things to look out for.
Preparing for Battle for Azeroth Pre-Patch World of Warcraft on July 17th
Before theBattle for Azerothexpansion releases on August 14th, a pre-patch will go into effect on July 17th bringing some changes which include stat squish, class changes and rebalances. Stats have been squished much like they were done with previous expansions, reducing health, damage and stat numbers. Scaling down numbers so that it is easier for players to read. Let’s have a look at some of the major changes that will go into effect with pre-patch.
Azerite Power
The patch will remove some of the older content which includes saying goodbye to all powerful Artifact weapons, they’ll still be there but their power will be burnt out. Although Artifact weapons are on their way out with the upcoming expansion, players will still be able to transmog any collected weapon looks as long as it’s the same archetype.
You will no longer be able to earn Artifact Power and traits that you have unlocked previously, some will now be apart of your class by default as well as talents. This overhaul of traits will prepare you for what’s coming with BFA. So the Artifact Power system will be replaced with Azerite Power and Azerite Armour, which is a completely different system.
Professions
Professions have been updated, they are now separated by categories which are by the expansion. They will also have their own progression, meaning you will no longer need to use old recipes in order to progress. First Aid which was a secondary profession will no longer exist.
If you wish to create Bandages you can do so by taking up the Tailoring profession and if you want Anti-Venom this is now obtainable by Alchemy. If you don’t wish to take up either of these professions just find a friend to make them for you or visit the auction house to purchase them.
PvP and War Mode
One of the major changes with this expansion is War Mode. PvP servers have been running for a long time in the WoW universe, but with BFA this will no longer be happening. Blizzard are introducing Warmode which if turned on via your talents page, will enter you into PvP mode. If you do not wish to take part in PvP while questing and want to avoid being ganked, you’re able to turn this mode off.
But there is good reason to take part, if you’re below max level this is a good way to earn yourself some bonus experience. Those who are at max level will gain increase bonuses from World Quests. War Mode can only be turned on in your faction’s capital city, which is Stormwind for Alliance and Ogrimmar for Horde.
The update will have already been downloaded via the Blizzard application, but if you haven’t logged in for a while you might want to do so, so you don’t have to wait for download on pre-patch day. Pre-patch 8.0 will go live on July 17th, for PC and Mac. The upcoming expansion Battle of Azeroth will launch next month on August 14th, 2018.
