Pearl Abyss have announced their fantasy title Crimson Desert will now be launching later in 2023.
Pearl Abyss' Crimson Desert Has Now Been Delayed
Two titles being developed by Pearl Abyss, fantasy title Crimson Desert and K-pop infused DokeV have been pushed, with no release date announced. DokeV first shown at The Game Awards in 2021, was a vibrant mix of creature collecting and action-adventure.
Crimson Desert is a stark contrast to the bubbly title, an open-world action adventure game once supposed to be a prequel to the popular MMORPG Black Desert Online. The title has now been pushed, but no release date has been given. Crimson Desert is further along the development process and received a short gameplay trailer last year.
Crimson Desert was firstannounced back in November of 2019, as one of the three games under Pearl Abyss. It is being designed by former RYL designer Jason Jung. The title was originally supposed to be a spin-off of the MMORPGBlack Desert Onlinebut the concept changed to an open world Action-RPG.
What We Know So Far About the Crimson Desert
The game became a standalone project set in the fictional continent of Pywel. Taking up the role of mercenaries, players will have to survive the unforgiving environment. Crimson Desert is set to feature both single-player and multiplayer content. The title was supposed to launch in Winter 2021, but has since been pushed a couple of time, now landing on the second half of next year.
Visually the game looks impressive, with a more realistic feel compared to the high fantasy look of Black Desert. The environments seem to rival the harsh locations of Horizon Zero Dawn or Skyrim. But there are some fantasy elements in the mix. You can arm yourself with swords and shields. Where you might expect slower combat due to heavy armor, the combat is at fast-paced with fluid swooping moves. Previewed were puzzles, sieges and what looks to be mythical creatures, such as dragons.
Hopefully, we’ll be hearing more about this title as we move into next year, which is already shaping up to be a busy one with all the releases underway.
