At this point in the game, you will gain access to the High Rank Environments and progress towards the end game.

Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build (High Rank)

This Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build will focus on maximizing the strength of the bow, as well as its range and the mobility by increasing the maximum effective range of the bow while strengthening special shots such as the Dragon Piercer or the Thousand Arrows, focusing mainly on maximizing the damage output while boosting your stamina management, making you a ranged powerhouse during your hunts.

Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build - Weapons & Decorations

Dosha Griefbringer I

Once you’ve reached the end of story, there are three main bows you can choose between, but the one I used primarily in this build is the Dosha Griefbringer I from the G. Doshaguma Tree. This bow is a rarity 4 bow with the weapon skills ofBallisticsLv 1 andSpecial Ammo BoostLv 1.

TheBallisticsskill extends the effective range of your ranged weapons and theSpecial Ammo Boostskill will increase the damage of the special shots likeDragon PiercerandThousand Dragonsfor the Bow.

Using these special shots will boost the bow’s overall damage. Although the bow has a -15% affinity, the increase in raw damage compensates so your overall damage doesn’t drop despite fewer critical hits. Additionally, you’re able to use both Close-range and Blast coatings, which are excellent for breaking parts and toppling monsters, creatimg more frequent opportunities for big openings.

Quematrice Acro II

If you’d prefer to avoid the -15% affinity, a good alternative is theQuematrice Acro IIfrom the Quematrice tree. This bow is a rarity 3 bow that you can easily forge. Although this bow is of a lower rarity, it has fire elemental damage and has the weapon skillFocuslv 2, which will increase the rate at which you gain your trick arrow gauge and shorten the charging time of your charge shots by 10%.

For the coatings for this Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build, the Quematrice Acro can use theClose-rangecoatings and theExhaustcoatings. The Close-range coatings are useful for breaking parts of the monster and are useful when the monster is relentlessly chasing you, keeping you out of the minimum distance needed to be in the effective range. The Exhaust coatings are useful to quickly apply the exhaust status effect, which is extremely helpful when monsters are in their furious state. The Exhaust status effect will get these monsters out of the stronger furious state and put them in a slowed down weaker state, making it easier for you to land your attacks.

Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build - Armor

For the armor sets for this Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build, we will be focusing mainly on skills that will help with the overall mobility when using the bow and stamina management. The armor setup for this bow build is relatively simple as we will be using the fullBalahara Alpha Set.

This set will give us the skills ofEvade ExtenderLv3,Evade Windowlv2,Stamina Surgelv2 andGeologistlv3. TheEvade Extenderskill will extend the distance when you evade, helping you keep your distance from the monster.

Evade Windowwill extend your invulnerability window when you evade, making it easier to dodge faster attacks or some particularly huge attacks of some of the larger monsters, andStamina Surgewill help you recover your stamina much faster as it increases your stamina recovery speed by +30% at level 2.

TheGeologistskill is not essential to the build but it is a skill that will help you get more materials from bone piles, special items and mining outcrops at level 3. Using the full set of the Balahara Alpha armor will also get you theMaster Mounterskill from theScaling Prowessset bonus.

Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build - Balahara A

This skill makes it easier for you to mount the monster and to create wounds on the monster while you are mounted. Although you will not be mounting the monster often as per the ranged nature of the bow weapon, it is helpful to get the occasional mount when you perform a jumping attack from your Seikret mount.

For the Talisman for this Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build, I recommend using theFitness Charmfor theConstitutionskill. The Constitution skill will reduce the stamina cost of your dodges by 10% per level, up to 50% at the max level.

Monster Hunter Wilds Bow Build (High Rank)

you may upgrade the Fitness Charm up to Fitness Charm IV as you progress through the game for Constitution lv4.

Other good options for this build include theSurge Charm I, which you may use to max out theStamina Surgeskill to level 3 and theBreaker Charm, which will give thePartbreakerskill.

The Partbreaker skill makes it easier to break large monster parts and increases the damage dealt when destroying a wound with a focus strike and it will increase this by 10% at level 1.

Decorations

Attack Decorations

TheDosha Griefbringer Ihas a single level one decoration slot and you can put in thePrecise Jewel Ito increase your range even further with theBallisticsskill level 2, or put in theTrueshot Jewel Ito increase the attack power of your Dragon Piercer and Thousand Dragons attacks.

As you progress through the game and move on from this bow, the skill from these decorations will help you maintain a similar effective range will make your special shots stronger.

Armor Decorations

TheBalahara Alpha Setwill give you 4 level one decoration slots. I recommend slotting in 3Fire Res Jewelsto mitigate the fire element weakness from using the Balahara set. For the remaining armor decoration slot, you can slot in a utility skill you like using the most such as theGobbler Jewelfor theSpeed Eatingor theMedicine Jewelfor theRecovery Upskill. Keep in mind that decorations are completely random, so if you can’t get these specific ones, dont worry too much since the build can work very well without them.

This build relies mostly on the range of the bow and is centered around being evasive and keeping your distance from the monster. As such there are no skills that will increase your defensive values, so you have to make sure you keep moving as you will not be able to take a lot of hits. You also have to be careful with the timing of your Dragon Piercers and Thousand Dragons as these attacks can take a little while to go off and will cost you a lot of health if you are caught with a big attack while doing these moves.

Progression Route

As you progress through the end game, you can upgrade the bow along the tree of the bow you are currently using and finally reach the strongest bow you will be using for the end game. The bow is one of the few weapons where crafting theArtian Weaponis generally not favourable as you are farming for parts and progressing towards your final build. The reason why is that the Artian Bow has limited coatings available to it compared to other bows, forcing you to rely only on the base attacks to use it and thus taking away some of the versatility of the weapon.

But if you don’t use the coatings and would rely on the base damage, you can use the bow and in order to forge it, you would need 2 broken tubes and 1 rusted device

For the armor, theRathalos Setis a very good set to upgrade into from theBalahara Setwithout needing to mix pieces from different armor sets as the skills it provides are amazing for the bow user.

Final Tips

This build is centered around focusing on the mobility of the bow as a ranged weapon and utilizing the range advantage to the full extent. As such, it is important not to get yourself caught into a corner or run out of stamina as you slide and jump your way around the monster. Keeping your eye on the stamina bar is important and it is devastating when you get caught, out of breath, when you run out of stamina as this build has lower defensive values.

To help with this, it is helpful to rely more on the Tracer shot and quickly spamming your quick attacks and power shots and keep moving rather than go for the powerful shots. The powerful shots will come into play when you have toppled the monster from quick successive close-range coatings shots or from the blast coatings shots. If you want to use the powerful shots more than this, the thousand dragons is a little bit faster to get off as opposed to the dragon piercer and it also has the potential to interrupt a monster’s attack if you hit most of the arrow it fires in the monster’s head. Important thing to note is, although this is possible, it is not entirely reliable and different monsters have different resistance to attacks before being interrupted or stunned so, it is generally better to just evade out of the way.

Lastly, the main bows I used in this build have limited access to coatings and if you want to use more coatings , the bow from the Congala tree is an excellent option as it will allow you to use, the Paralysis and Poison Coatings in addition to the Power and Blast Coatings. Having this bow as a secondary weapon to a bow that has Close-range and Exhaust Coatings will let you use a huge variety of coatings depending on the situation during your hunts.
