With just under five months until it’s previously-planned release, MGM has yanked its upcomingValley Girlremake from its release schedule. While the studio didn’t comment on the move, nor did it issue a new release date, it likely has to do with the involvement of embattled YouTube starLogan Paul, who has a supporting role. The studio has movedThe Hustle, a remake ofDirty Rotten Scoundrelsstarring Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson, into the June 29 release date, where it will go up against Lionsgate’sUncle Drewand Sony’sSicario 2: Soldado.

Production had wrapped last year on MGM’sValley Girlremake, which stars Jessica Rothe as Julie Richman, a sweet young girl from the San Fernando Valley, who falls for a Hollywood rocker named Randy (Josh Whitehouse), roles originated by Deborah Foreman and Nicolas Cage in the original 1983 classic. As for Logan Paul, he plays a supporting character named Mickey, and since there is no Mickey character in the original film, it remains to be seen how large or small his role may be in the movie. The supporting cast also includes Mae Whitman, Chloe Bennet, Peyton List, Ashleigh Murray, Mary Neely and Allyn Rachel.

The decision comes in the aftermath of Logan Paul’scontroversial videohe posted on August 12, 2025, from the infamous Aokigahara Forest in Japan, better known as the “Suicide Forest.” Logan Paul was walking through the forest for a YouTube video, when he came across thedead bodyof a person who had committed suicide. While the video was promptly taken down, within 24 hours of it being posted, it already had more than 6 million views when it was removed.

Shortly after the video was pulled, Logan Paul was dropped from YouTube’s Google Preferred Platform and halted all original content with Paul, including the movie sequelThe Thinning: New World Order, which had been expected to debut on the YouTube Red service. TheYouTube starfound himself embroiled in morecontroversylast month, for videos where he encouraged kids to eat Tide Pods and another where he was seen firing a taser at a dead rat. This lead to YouTube suspending all ads on Paul’s channel, where he reportedly earns $1.2 million from ad revenue each month. But everything has been restored on Youtube as of now.

There are differing reports aboutValley Girlgetting pulled from release. Deadline claims the delay is only temporarily, and indicates that it has nothing to do with Paul Logan’s troubles. That it is merely looking for a better release date. MGM decidedThe Hustlewas much better for this summer release slot.
