Alba’s Latest Heroine: ‘So Much Depth’
Trigger Warning
Special Forces commando Parker (Jessica Alba) is on active duty overseas when she gets called back to her hometown with the tragic news that her father has suddenly died. Now the owner of the family bar, Parker reconnects with her former boyfriend-turned-sheriff Jesse (Mark Webber), his hot-tempered brother Elvis (Jake Weary) and their powerful father Senator Swann (Anthony Michael Hall), as she looks to understand what actually happened to her dad.
Alba has showcased her hand-to-hand combat expertise in past popcorn projects likeLA’s FinestandFantastic Four, the latter of which is getting yetanother exciting reboot. InTrigger Warning, directed by Mouly Surya, Alba plays a Special Forces commando named Parker, and she’s out for blood after finding out her dad suddenly died in their hometown. Parker returns to her place of upbringing to search for answers, which turns all the more complicated as she ultimately unravels a sort of gang operation that’s quietly running the town.

Says Alba about her latest heroine portrayal:
“The character had so much depth and range that it was easy to really feel like I was in her skin. And there was a lot of passion and grieving and layers to the action that I got to channel all the way through to complete rage. And so, that range of sadness to rage was the spectrum, and it was really neat to have that as an outlet and to be able to do that, because I haven’t seen a ton of women do that in film.”
“And it was just nice,” continued Alba, “especially my first movie that I got to executive produce and really help mold and shape and have a seat at the table, frankly, to be able to dosomething that is pretty new for the genre, even though it felt like a throwback.”
