There are some rather nasty creatures found inGrounded 2, but while cockroaches don’t exactly have the best reputation outside the game, their existence is probably the least offensive. They scurry around in an unsettling way, but they generally keep to themselves, all while just looking for a nice meal.

The same can’t be said about the smaller Nymphs, but regardless, cockroaches are a creature that you will need to face at some point in your adventures, be it for their crafting material orpart of the story. This guide shows you exactly where you can find them to farm.

Where to Find Cockroaches

Roaches are an important resource in Grounded 2, and like some of the larger enemies, they will certainly pack a punch when on the offensive. They are actually passive creatures, outside of the O.R.C. mind-controlled ones, so you will need to initiate combat in order for it to get aggressive, and when it does, its eyes will begin to glow red.

While you’ll need to fight and slay one to harvest its remains, where they are located is a little complicated. On one hand, they are scattered all through the park. I don’t know what the park owners have been doing because they certainly have a roach problem. Fortunately, this gives many opportunities to take one down.

For example, if you want a roach very early on in the story, you can fight one just west of the first base you set up (and the first Ominent station you come across). One is located, as you might expect, around food, so it’s right next to (south of) the Snackbar. Unfortunately, it’s also surrounded by spiders, and taking on both a Roach and an Orb Weaver is ill-advised.

Another very good spot, especially if you plan on farming them, is in the Fire Pit. The Fire Pit is located all the way north in the map, and unlike the cooler on the Picnic Table, or ice cream cart in the south, the Fire Pit is surrounded with heat, setting you a blaze if you’re not careful.

For whatever reason, the cockroaches are drawn to the heat and have surrounded the area. There are also Cockroach Nymphs around too, although they are a little more aggressive in comparison to the standard, giant Cockroaches you’ll see.

Alternatively, you will also find an O.R.C. Cockroach guarding a Ominent Station to the east of the Fire Pit, but this also comes with a side of an Orb Weaver Jr. if you want to take the risk. On top of that, there are two O.R.C. Cockroaches in the northern part of the Fire Pit, both of which can and will mess you up if you’re facing them solo.

How to Kill a Cockroach?

Resistances: Gas, Fresh, Spicy, Venom

Weakness: None

Being that Cockroaches in Grounded 2 are massive compared to you, you’d think these are fairly difficult enemies to fight against. You’d actually be wrong. If they do end up summoning their Nymph children, the battle becomes significantly harder, but if you’re taking one on head-to-head, then there shouldn’t be too much trouble.

They have overly predictable attacks, winding up with mostly single strikes, with a single three-hit combo in their arsenal. All you have to do is get a mount, such as a Red Soldier Ant, and play the defensive for most of the fight. When it strikes, be sure to stay in the defensive position for a second after the first hit to ensure it isn’t the three-hit combo, and then launch a counterattack. Continue this pattern and hold your ground – not wandering off into other groups of enemies, and the oversized pest will die in less than a minute.

Once you take a cockroach’s HP down to nothing, it will actually regain around 20% back and pop off its head. It will begin running around like a headless chicken, flailing about, trying to damage where it can. The most dangerous part of this is if it leads you into a group of other Cockroaches or Nymphs. Thankfully, it will come towards you, so you don’t have to follow it too far. This can be more dangerous than the first phase of the fight only because it’s unpredictable.
