Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a vast open-world game where you can explore different areas whenever you want. Fast travel spots aren’t immediately unlocked, so you’ll need your trusty horse. Here’s how to summon your mount in AC Shadows.
How to Summon Your Mount in AC Shadows
To summon your mount, you must be outside your hideout. Mounts cannot be summoned in the hideout, which is okay since the hideout is small anyway. If you are in the middle of a quest, there are times when you cannot call your mount. These are the only restrictions.
If you aren’t under these restrictions, you’re able to summon the mount bypressing down on the D-pad. Sometimes, you need to hold down the D-pad to call the mount. Since your character whistles to call the mount, lightly tapping down on the D-pad can get overridden, especially when you are performing another action.

While mounted, you can position yourself to jump by pressing X or Square to change your stance, and then you can jump off usually. It is a fancy way to engage a potential enemy or get “more ready” for combat while mounted.

How to Turn On the Direction Guide in AC Shadows
If you have noticed a little white line guiding you to whatever quest or objective you are tracking, it is a feature called Pathfinder. To turn on Pathfinder, you can tap and hold left on the D-pad to turn it on. You don’t have to be on a mount to turn on the guide or Pathfinder.
The line shows you the most optimal path to your objective, but it uses the roads to get around. It doesn’t cut through the woods or shortcuts, but you don’t have to look at the map.

The Pathfinder only shows your current quest, so if you have a marker somewhere, it could track the main quest first. To turn off the Pathfinder, press the left on the D-pad again.
