AFK Journeyis the sequel to the successful AFK Arena. The game feels like an upgrade in many ways, but the social features are quite restrictive. Let me explain how to add friends and if you can switch servers in AFK Journey.
How to add friends in AFK Arena
Before we begin,you must be on the same server as your friends to add them on AFK Journey. I’ll explain how the servers work in a moment, but here’s how to check what server you’re on.
Tap the icon in the top left corner of the screen (pictured above). Press the Cog, then tap the ‘Others’ tab.
Press ‘Character Switch,’ and your server is displayed before your character name. For example, I’m on S70 and have another character on PTR10.
Assuming you’re on the same server as your friend, press the ‘three line’ button in the bottom right corner to bring up themain menu. Select ‘Friends’ and press the button in the bottom corner that says ‘Add new friends now!’ You can enter your friend’saccount numberto add them to your list or pick the random ‘suggested’ players with the green button in the middle.
How to find your account number in AFK Journey
Tap the icon at the top left of the main screen, and youraccount numberwill be displayed at the bottom. You can copy the number by pressing the small ‘copy’ icon next to it and paste it into something like a WhatsApp chat.
Can you switch servers on AFK Journey?
At the time of writing,you cannot switch servers on AFK Journey. This restriction means if you’re on a different server to your friends, one of you will have to create a new character. There’s no way to transfer progression, so whoever makes the character will start from the beginning.
you’re able to make a new character from the Character Switch menu. You can choose what server that character will be on, but it’s permanent, so verify it matches your friends.
The restrictive server settings are abaffling decision for AFK Journey, as you’ll need to give your Server details to anyone who might want to play with you. Hopefully, this system will be changed in the future.
Social features aside, AFK Journey offers a colorful cast and a simple gameplay loop.Some characters are better than others, but you’re able to use just about anyone to sail through the early game.
