The Disney animated seriesGravity Fallsdepicts the strange occurrences of a small town in Oregon. During the summer before they turn 13, twins Mabel (Kristen Schaal) and Dipper (Jason Ritter) live with their Grunkle Stan, who runs a con shop called the Mystery Shack. While some animated shows are inspired by places or scientific theories,Looperdescribes thatGravity Fallsis based on creator Alex Hirsch’s summer vacation-adventures with his own twin sister and their grandfather, Stan, who was quite the comedian. Additionally, the show’s science fiction element is inspired byFox’sTheX-Filesand tabloid magazines explaining sightings of aliens, Bigfoot, and the Loch Ness Monster.

Each episode, Dipper and Mabel encounter something strange that their Grunkle Stan denies is real, all the while knowing that Gravity Falls is a strange place with strange occurrences. Dipper happens to find a book that confirms what he and Mabel experience. However, the trio are not alone. Grunkle Stan employs two members of the town named Soos and Wendy. Some other citizens that make regular appearances are Lazy Susan, the local sheriff and deputy, as well as the local former scientist Tate McGucket. Each citizen of Gravity Falls is either chaotically funny while others are just downright hilarious. Indeed, here are the funniest characters onGravity Falls, ranked.

Alex Hirsch as Bill Cipher in Gravity Falls

10Bill Cipher

An entity from a different dimension, obsessed with the Pine family, is let loose on Gravity Falls. Bill Cipher became obsessed with Gravity Falls after Stanford Pines broke through the portal to Cipher’s world. The dimension Bill lives in is decaying, so his obsession with Gravity Falls is not just to escape, but to bring everyone from his chaotically evil world into another world. Even though Bill is the epitome of chaotic evil, his tone when saying things like, “Welcome to Weirdmaggedon!” and “Want to hear my impression of you in three seconds? AHHHHH!” are hilarious.

Alex Hirsch as Old Man McGucket in Gravity Falls

9Old Man McGucket

While Mabel and Dipper know him as Old Man McGucket, his real name is Fiddleford McGucket. Stanford Pines befriends McGucket in his endeavor to cross dimensions. After multiple uses of a memory device, he lost his ability to communicate effectively and spoke in nonsense to the typical person. In many series, characters like McGucket are considered funny because they are atypical. YetGravity Fallswrote him as funny without making fun of him, like when he moved into a mansion with only a sack of things.

8Sheriff Blubs

Depending on the show, either the sheriff and deputy are wildly suspicious of outsiders, or they are disturbingly lazy. InGravity Falls, Sheriff Blubs (played by Kevin Michael Richardson) and his deputy are the latter. By doing the bidding of Little Gideon, a local child celebrity, Sheriff Blubs would rather sit on the sidelines than do any real police work. Even though the sheriff is not the most eager to do his job, he is funny in an endearing way. He typically predicts an event, like when he says he believes Little Gideon is trustworthy, only to be proven wrong moments later.

7Lazy Susan

Voiced bycomedy legend Jennifer Coolidge, Lazy Susan is a local waitress in Gravity Falls. She’s often disoriented or talks louder than necessary. Just like Old Man McGucket, the writers ofGravity Fallsdidn’t use Susan’s quirks against her for the sake of comedy. They made her funny before to begin with, as a flashback in season 2 shows. Coolidge, who is currently in anOld Navy commercial, is easily one of the funniest people in Hollywood. Her natural wit makes every role of hers pure comedy.

One of the Mystery Shack employees and the only daughter of a lumberjack family in Gravity Falls is Wendy. She’s the typical teenager in a sitcom: tired, wanting to hang out with her friends, and drinks a huge cup of sarcasm to fuel her day. Whether she is being asked to do something at work or in general, she is like a whip. Her wit is probably why Dipper idolizes her.

Keith Ferguson as Deputy Durland and Kevin Michael Richardson as Sheriff Blubs in Gravity Falls

When the fair comes to town, Mabel and Dipper have different focuses. Dipper is looking for weird anomalies, convinced that Gravity Falls is a mysterious place despite his lack of evidence. Mabel, however, sees the most beautiful creature: a pig. She wins this pig by correctly guessing his weight. Waddles typically doesn’t speak, but makes funny noises and faces. Waddles is toGravity Fallswhat Grogu is toThe Mandalorian.

4Grunkle Stanley

Mabel and Dipper are not the only twins in their family. Their Grunkle Stan is a twin with the same nickname. Stanford and Stanley Pine are twins who had an unbreakable bond as kids, but, as adults, had developed a deep disdain for one another. Stanford is the scientist and Stanley is a conman who doesn’t take anything seriously. In fact, Grunkle Stanley makes the corniest jokes inGravity Falls.

3Soos Ramirez

Wendy is one of two employees at the Mystery Shack. Soos Ramirez has been a loyal customer and employee of Stanley Pine’s establishment since he was a child. Unlike others his age, he has maintained his childlike innocence and refers to Dipper as “Little Dude”. Soos spends most of his time helping others and not himself. His relatability is what makes him funny inGravity Falls.

2Mabel Pines

Voice actors are possibly the busiest entertainers as their talents are requested far and wide for animated series. Such is the case with Kristen Schaal, who voices Trixie inToy Story 3and4, Louise inBob’s Burgers, and Mabel inGravity Falls. While Mabel is a love-sick pre-teen, she is the ultimate ray of sunshine. Her optimism and naïveté of the complications of life are what make her so funny.

Candy and Grenda are Mabel’s friends in Gravity falls. They are all boy-crazy, but not all that impressed with people who are fake. When an event is held at the mansion on the hill, Candy, Mabel, and Grenda only want to have fun. But Grenda is being pursued by a pre-teen named Marius, who she thinks is clingy. Like Soos, Grenda is quite relatable for anyone who felt like an outcast in middle school. Without a doubt, Grenda’s honesty in chaotic situations is always a reprieve.
