Summary

A rumored new boss update inGenshin Impact4.8 may significantly improve how players obtain certain items, but it is not exactly beneficial as it may come with some other downsides. At the moment, the action RPG is in the midst of Version 4.7, a patch that is bringing forth three new playable characters, as well as a brand-new Archon Quest involving Dainsleif and the Traveler’s sibling. While there is plenty to explore with therelease ofGenshin Impact4.7, leaks about the next patch are starting to arrive.

One of the most recent leaks is that there will be a notable change to some boss fights. According to information obtained by Seele Leaks, which was then shared in a post onReddit, the downtime for world boss respawns may be removed entirely with Version 4.8– or, at least, the feature is allegedly being tested in the closed Version 4.8 beta. This would mean that players could continuously challengeGenshin Impact’s world bosses without having to wait for them to reappear, a period which is estimated to last five minutes.

Alleged Removal Of Boss Downtime Could Mean Heavier Farming In Genshin Impact

Leak Seems To Sustain Rumors Of A New Character Level Cap In Natlan

The removal of the downtime between a boss’ death and their respawn is beneficial as it allows players to quickly farm the world boss’ materials, but it may hint at a new problem: the rumored new character level cap. According to aleaked level update inGenshin Impact’s Natlanregion,it seems like characters will now be able to reach level 100 rather than the usual 90. This, in turn, may mean that players will be required to go through an additional Ascension stage, which involves the usage of extra materials.

“Overall, this rumored removal of the respawn times does not fix the real problem with farming world boss materials.”

Among Ascension materials for any character are world boss materials, which need to be farmed abundantly. As the demands increase for each Ascension stage, and the current final stage already requires 20 materials (for a grand total of 46), it is likely the rumored level 90 Ascension threshold will demand around 30 copies of the same world boss for a character. The rumored removal of a downtime for world boss respawns may be a way of addressing and improving how players farm these materialsinGenshin Impact.

The big problem, however, is not the time spent waiting for a boss to respawn, but instead the huge number of materials needed for a character’s complete Ascension combined with a low and unstable amount of boss drops, even at their highest challenge level. This makes farming a lot more difficult and time-consuming than it should be. Overall, this rumored removal of the respawn times does not fix the real problem with farming world boss materials. Surely, it is positive, but there are other priorities. The answers can even be found in other HoYoverse games beyondGenshin Impact.

InHonkai: Star Rail, world boss Ascension materials come in predetermined stacks of 5 whenever the opponent is challenged at the highest level. Not only do players get more drops (for characters that only reach level 80) but they also get a guaranteed drop rate.

For now, these leaks are very early and should be taken with caution. The information may be incorrect, subject to change, or even postponed until Natlan arrives if they are actually connected. Nevertheless, it seems like HoYoverse is trying to solve a few of its problems, though aiming at the wrong solutions. For instance, there was aResin cap increase inGenshin Impact4.7and, while it was beneficial, it did not address the true problems with the resource.
