The final boss ofElden Ring Nightreign, Helostor the Nightlord, is the big baddy of the story, but still an ominous source that you really have to dig through the dialogue to figure out why you’re trying to take him down. Regardless, after killing four of the other Nightlords around Limveld, the player will then unlock theNight Aspectmission. This will be like all the other missions, but at the end, you will finally go up against Heolstor, arguably one of the weaker bosses in the game. With that said, he offers one of the most visually striking and interesting fights in all of FromSoftware’s catalogue.

This is taken from the first phase, but is faster and will break your guard quicker.

Energy Slash
The NIghtlord’s blade will glow blue, and he will unleash two swiping slashes that are projectiles, followed up with a stabbing attack.
Night Attack
The arena will turn dark and Heolstor will summon various missiles that will attack a single target.
Ultimate Attack
Heolstor will cut space itself and unleash an attack that sends line AOE blasts in all cardinal positions, dealing large amounts of damage and buildup of the element from the boss he pulls from.
The first phase of Heolstor is almost a joke. We hesitate to say that it’s a joke only because there are still hard-hitting attacks the Nightlord can throw at you. The only thing is that, compared to every other Nightlord we’ve faced thus far, this is by a wide margin the easiest. In fact, we’ve had a harder time with some of the end-of-day bosses than the first phase. It’s mainly just a combination of two to four hit combos that can be easily dodged or blocked through.

One of the common attacks, Heolstor will bend over and prepare for a piercing attack towards one player. After this, he will perform a large AOE strike into the surrounding ground. If you don’t have a shield, you can dodge the first attack, but you will need to sprint away afterward. If you do decide to block with a shield, it will likely break your guard, which isn’t a problem because you’ll have enough time to get out of the stunlock to block the follow-up attack. The downside is that Heolstor will do chip damage due to his elemental damage.
Another attack to look out for is Heolstor’s energy slash. The Nightlord will begin to charge up his sword with a blue glow and will perform two quick energy slashes. If you don’t have a good enough shield, do not block this, otherwise you will get hit by the second attack, and it will likely take most of your health. On top of this, he follows this up with a dashing piercing attack towards the targeted player. It’s one of the deadliest attacks of the fight.

There are a couple of different arena-modifying attacks. The first is that he will turn everything dark and summon various missile-like projectiles that will track one player, dealing a large amount of damage. You’ll need to sprint out of the way or guard through it. The next is when Heolstor cuts space itself. He will come down from the sky and unleash a huge attack that sends line AOES to all cardinal positions. If you’re hit with it. He seems to take an element from a previous boss you’ve faced, so, for example, he may takeGladius’ fire, or Gnoster’s poison buildup. That’s on top of giving The Nightlord that elemental affliction that he can inflict on you. Some of his slashes will now have additional line AOEs, and one of his attacks will resemble the initial ultimate attack that will do large line AOEs around the arena for every swing.
The best thing we can suggest is to wait out the storm. He will be very aggressive during this, but if you can dodge or guard most of the attacks, you just have to wait for the final finisher before he goes back to his regular self, which is far more manageable. After that, he will simply repeat everything in phase 2 and swap between the different Nightlords.
