Everspace 2puts a lot of emphasis on loot and is often described as “Diablo in space.” Not only will you find tons of weapons, modules, consumables, mainframe components, and other pieces of loot while roaming around Cluster 34, but you’ll also be able to craft most of these things yourself provided you have enough resources and the right blueprints.

Blueprints in Everspace 2 work similarly to blueprints in other RPGs. Namely, before you can craft a particular type of item you’ll first need to unlock its corresponding blueprint. It is possible to craft items from a specific category even without blueprints, however, the items you’ll get will be random, so you’ll generally want to avoid doing that.
Unlocking Blueprints From Drops
There are two ways of unlocking blueprints in the game, the first one involving a healthy dose of RNG. Whenever you kill enemies or open containers there’s a chance you’ll get a blueprint as a reward. Items in Everspace 2 have four levels of rarity –Common,Uncommon,Rare, andSuperior– andyou’ll first need to unlock the lower rarity blueprints before you can get higher rarity ones to drop.
Everspace 2 has a pretty linear progression system, so you canexpect to receive only common blueprints from dropswhen you’re first starting out your adventures. Once you’ve unlocked a fair number of common blueprints, the game will start throwing uncommon blueprints at you, but common ones will still continue to drop until you have unlocked all of them. The process works the same with rare and superior-quality blueprints.

Unlocking Blueprints Via Crafting
If you don’t like relying entirely on random drops don’t worry because you can also get blueprints via crafting. Once you get your hands on your first Cargo Unit, you can start dismantling any piece of equipment you no longer needin exchange for parts that can then be used to craft new items. Simplydismantle the same type of item three timesand you’ll unlock that item’s corresponding blueprint.
Rarity rules apply here as well so when you dismantle common items, you’ll always get common blueprints along with common crafting parts. On the bright side, you can skip a step using this methodand can immediately start crafting items of any rarity if you have enough parts. For instance, you don’t need to unlock the ability to craft common rail guns to make an uncommon or rare version of one.

It’s worth keeping in mind that crafting allows you to unlock blueprints for weapons and modules, but not consumables and catalysts. Consumable blueprints can only be acquired from drops while catalyst blueprints can only be acquired by completing High-Risk Areas of an equal or higher rarity as the blueprint. Finally, crafting components (not to be confused with craftingparts) have their own blueprints, but they all get unlocked right off the bat, so there’s no need to worry about those.
