Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtreeis packed full of mysteries and hidden areas that you have to think outside the box to enter. For theRuins of Unte, it’s a matter of fighting fire with fire.
to get to theRuins of Unte, players will need to traverse theShadow Keep, but not by a lot. After the first boss at the entrance, head up the stairs to the right and hug right until you find a ladder. Climb down and you’ll find a room with a painting. More importantly, there will be a hidden wall and behind it will be a comfy little coffin to lay in. This will bring you to the Ruins.
You will notice there’s a giant furnace golem blocking the entrance to theRuins of Unte. It took us some time and experimentation to figure out what to do, but all the clues can be found around the desolate wasteland of giant corpses. If you notice, each of the dead giants have droppedFurnace Visage.
There is only one item in your crafting menu that requires such a material: theHefty Furnace Pot. This throwable item may be costly to produce, but it only takes one of these to resurrect the furnace golem. You will need theGreater Potentate’s Cookbook [2]which can be found in the shack underEllac Greatbridge. Simply throw it at him, preferably on the balcony to the left of it.
Light a Fuse
Relight the golem’s flame, and it will come alive. However, it won’t be hospitable to your actions. It seems he was enjoying his rest and will immediately attempt to scorch you. Kill it or head into the ruins to collect your rewards. Preferably, hide for a bit while the enemy de-aggros, only because it will have a clean shot at you while in the ruins. If you die or teleport out, thefurnace golemwill go back to sleep, and you’ll need to reignite its flame once more. Since these Visages are hard to come by, you will want to make the best use of it.
And as for your reward, there will beThin Beast Bonesin the middle of the area. OK, maybe that’s not that exciting for those who just got past this giant behemoth, but on the little pedestal to the left will be aStone-Sheathed Sword, and inside the chapel aGiant Golden Arcfaith spell. Overall, not a bad haul, but a nice little puzzle to solve.
