After a disappointing summer season, the movie-going public is eagerly awaiting something that can wash the bad taste out of their mouths. Marvel Studios’Doctor Strangeis only a couple of months away, and the MCU’s latest hero could very well be the palate cleanser we all need. It just so happens that if you live in the UK, you will be getting that palate cleansed a bit sooner than everyone else, as the release date for the movie has just been bumped up overseas.

Thanks to a tweet that was sent out earlier today from the Marvel UKTwitteraccount, we now know thatDoctor Strangewill be landing in UK cinemas on Tuesday, October 25. Originally, the movie was scheduled to open on the 28, which doesn’t make it a massive move, but the sooner the better. Well, sooner for fans in the UK anyway. As of now, the U.S. release date has yet to change and is still slated for November 4.

“The UK release for Marvel’s #DoctorStrange moves forward. Catch it in UK cinemas from Tuesday 25th October!”

It is very typical for Marvel movies to open first in the UK before landing in U.S. theaters. Marvel Studios has been doing this ever sinceIron Man 2came out in 2010. Recently it was revealed thatCommunityandRick and MortycreatorDan Harmonhad been brought on by Marvel to write some additional scenes forDoctor Strange. Being that it was a little late in the game, there was some concern. Given that the release date has just been moved up, albeit only slightly, it would seem that the reshoots and additional workHarmonwas brought in for went well and were likely fairly minimal. So, it should help ease any concerns that were present.

In addition to the welcomed news that some of us will be getting to seeBenedict CumberbatchasDoctor Strangea bit sooner than we thought, we now also know what the running time of the movie will be. According to a listing forDoctor Strangeon the Event Cinemas website, the runtime is going to be 130 minutes, which is pretty average, if not a tiny bit longer than some of the other MCU movies to date. For those that really want to see how that runtime stacks up, that would tie the movie alongsideIron Man3 for the fifth longest movie in the MCU. While that doesn’t tell us much, it does seem like it is right in the sweet spot. The movie has to introduce a wholenew characterand a whole new side of the Marvel Universe, so less than two hours might be tough, but it isn’t anAvengersmovie, so it doesn’t need to be three hours long either

Doctor Strangewill not only be introducingMarvel’s newest herointo the MCU, it will also be introducing the idea of straight-up magic into the movie universe. Not only that, but it has been confirmed that this movie will also be introducing the idea of the multiverse into the MCU, which could mean very big things moving forward. For those who may not know,Doctor Strangetells the story of a neurosurgeon namedStephen Strangewho gets in a terrible car accident, resulting in permanent nerve damage to his hands. This leads him on a quest to heal himself, eventually finding The Ancient One, who teaches him the ways of sorcery and the mystic arts.

Doctor Strangewas directed bySinisterdirectorScott Derrickson. The cast includesBenedict Cumberbatch,Tilda Swinton,Chiwetel Ejiofor,Benedict Wong,Rachel McAdamsandMads Mikkelsen. The movie opens in the UK on October 25 and in the U.S. on November 4.
