Strand is the new subclass introduced withDestiny 2: Lightfall. It’s geared towards crowd control and sapping away enemies’ health over time. But the biggest draw of the new subclass is the Grapple ability. This lets you tether to any spot in the environment and swing around enemies and platforms. This subclass brings a lot of stuff toDestiny 2, including the new Strand Sources dotted around Neptune. This guide will explain what they are, and how to bond with Strand Sources inDestiny 2: Lightfall.
If you aren’t quite sure what Strand Sources are, don’t feel too bad.Lightfallhas a lot going on, and it’s easy to get confused by things the expansion throws at you. Thankfully, Strand Sources are one of the few things inDestiny 2that’s easy to explain.

What are Strand Sources?
When you start theLightfallcampaign and finally reach Neptune, you may wonder when you’ll get Strand. You’ll actually get it very early through a Strand Source. And you can spot these pretty easily. Stand Sources are writhing green masses with a bright white center. And once you’ve seen one, you’ll understand why they’re hard to miss.
How to bond with Strand Sources inDestiny 2: Lightfall
Interacting with these Strand Sources is also very simple. Just walk up to them and you’ll notice a prompt appear that says “Look Within.” Once you hold the input down for a second or two you’ll be able to use Strand. Sources like these are dotted throughout theLightfallcampaign, and in a few instances, their usage is entirely optional. But none of these Strand Sources will give you Strand for very long. Once you’ve completed the activity that uses the Strand Source, you’ll revert back to whichever Subclass you had previously.
Once you’ve completed theLightfallcampaign, you can finally unlock Strand early. So you won’t need these Strand Sources anymore. And if you decide that Strand isn’t really for you, the good news is that you don’t have to use it after this point. Besides Strand, there’s plenty of new stuff to look out for during theSeason of Defiance.
