Steamforged Games found phenomenal success withDark Souls: The Board Game, which raised over $5 million on Kickstarter. Having also found success withBloodborne: The Card Game, it was only natural that they’d also want to makeFrom Software’s other ruthless hit game a card game too. Here’s what we know about it so far.

Will the card game make me suffer and do I have to suffer alone?
Dark Souls: The Card Gameattempts to mirror the fiendish difficulty of the video game series. Can you survive when the odds are quite literally stacked against you? It is a card game that can be played either by yourself or in cooperation with up to three other players. Each player assumes a class from the start and each class has unique special abilities. You then build your deck with armour, item, and weapon cards
The object of the game is to accumulate as many souls and as much treasure as you can so that you will be powerful enough to slay the final boss. You use the souls and the treasure to purchase cards to make a larger, more powerful deck. You’ll need to be a tactical player. It’s not enough to just get the right cards. You’ll need to know when is best to play them and when to enhance your moves with Stamina cards.
So we’re all friends here then, right? Right, guys?
If played with other players, it’s sure to get competitive fast. A player who was your ally against a monster mere seconds ago may suddenly stab you in the back to claim a valuable move card. Should you want to reach the final boss inDark Souls: The Card Game, you’ll probably need your allies alive to help you at least get close to your ultimate target…but sooner or later, you may be tempted to backstab your temporary ally or leave them to die. This formula worked really well inBloodborne: The Card Game, so there’s every reason to think it would work here too.
