This year’s summer movie releases gave fans an exciting battle between Christopher Nolan’sOppenheimerand Greta Gerwig’sBarbie. It has not been the case for the past few years after the onset of the pandemic, and it affected all businesses, including movie theaters. While the Margot Robbie-starrer film remained ahead due to its universal appeal, the Cillian Murphy-led project is already a glorious feat.

Nolan’s historical biopic has undoubtedly proved successful at the box office despite the ‘R’ rating that limited its audiences. Still, the movie currently reigns at $891M worldwide, with only less than $10M to hit the $900M milestone.

Christopher Nolan’sOppenheimerWon’t Likely Cross $1 Billion
Because of theBarbenheimerphenomenon,Oppenheimerhas now ranked as one ofChristopher Nolan’s most successful films, just behindThe Dark Knightmovies. Predictions were laid on the table weeks before the title came out, and, because of its strategic advertising, the hype on social media, and, of course, the main starCillian Murphy, it’s no mystery why many believed it has the potential to reach $1 billion at the end of its theatrical run.
Box office analyst Luiz Fernando predictsOppenheimerwill have an $820M-$900M global run. Germany, Australia, France, and India are some of the top contributors to this spectacular figure. At the moment, Nolan’s masterpiece has grossed over $891M, as perDeadline.

Oppenheimerwas released in July 2023 by Universal Pictures, and since new movies are coming out this month, fans’ attention will be diverted to new curiosities. A whole slew of incredible titles also just arrived in theaters last week, and that would be enough to slow down the momentum of the film, which is also leaving the theaters very soon.
It goes to show that fans should not keep their expectations too high. WhetherOppenheimermiraculously crosses the $1 billion mark or unfortunately fails to do so, it is already a huge box office success and another stellar work from both Nolan and Murphy. Even analyst Luiz Fernando remains conservative about his predictions until the final count arrives.

WillOppenheimerBe Soon Available On Streaming Platforms?
Fans may be disappointed to find out thatOppenheimermight take a while before it arrives on streaming platforms. Christopher Nolan reportedly opted to release the film via Universal Pictures since the studio allows longer theatrical-exclusive windows that can last between 90 and 120 days.
With this information, the biopic will most likely start streaming 120 days after its theatrical release as part of Nolan and Peacock’s agreement, an NBC streaming service that currently holds a deal with Universal Pictures. If this happens, the movie will more likely be available to watch at home just in time for Thanksgiving.

Fans can still enjoyOppenheimerin theaters worldwide, as its digital as well as physical release via Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD will slightly come several weeks after the curtains have closed on Nolan’s epic masterpiece.
