Blasphemous 2 The Dark Fantasy Metroidvania Gets August Release Date
The release date for sequel to the dark fantasy 2D side-scroller, Blasphemous 2 will be unleashing onAugust 24thfor PC, PS5, Switch and Xbox Series X|S.
The second title takes place after the events of theWounds of Eventide DLC. It continues the pixel art-styled title featuring the Penitent One. The trailer teases the birth of a child. But if the first title is anything to go by it will be something truly horrifying.
More Blaspheming
Blasphemous 2 was announced earlier this year during the Nintendo Indie World Showcase. But it had yet to get release date nailed down. Now we know the game will be coming this August, which is already starting to look like a busy month with FromSoftware’sArmored Core 6’s launch also arriving during that timeframe.
The first titleBlasphemouswas released back in 2019. The 2Dmetroidvaniafeatured unforgiving bosses and gruesomely detailed horrors. It follows the main character The Penitent One as they navigate the cryptic world of Cvstodia. It features difficult platforming and a number of ways to die from death pits to deadly swinging scythes. Let’s not forget the awful crying baby boss.
The sequel looks to continue the challenge in a new grotesque landscape. New weapons and skill sets will aid players in overcoming the intense boss battles ahead. Furthermore this entry will be just as cryptic as the first, leaving the player to unravel and piece together the story described to have a “myriad of secrets”. Let the nightmare continue.
Blasphemous 2will arrive on August 24th for Switch, PC, Playstation 5 and Xbox Series.
