This puzzle requires your party to solve an ongoing Lanceboard problem, a type of chess that was common in the Forgotten Realms. There are two methods to solve this puzzle and proceed to the next room.

Normal Way to Pass the Chamber of Strategy in Baldur’s Gate 3
This method is the traditional approach, requiring you to move the pieces on the board to their correct positions. Before attempting this, make sure Gale is in your party. Gale is proficient in Lanceboard and can provide hints for the solution.

Alternate Way to Pass the Chamber of Strategy in Baldur’s Gate 3
The alternate way requires some ability to deallightning damageto enemies. If you inspect the Black King piece, you’ll see that it’s invulnerable to everything except lightning and has 50 HP. You can kill the piece with any party member, which completes the puzzle since your goal is to defeat the Black King by any means.
Once you finish, you can move on to the other chambers and continue progressing in the Wyrmway quest.
