The 53rd Annual NAACP Image Awards is right around the corner, which means nominations for awards are going out. And, unsurprisingly, thanks to TV series and films alike,Apple TV+has earned more than a few nods. Nine, to be exact.
Apple TV+announced todaythat it has earned nine awards nominations for this year’s NAACP Image Awards. Five Apple Original Films were nominated, along with three series. This isn’t the first time the NAACP Image Awards have looked in Apple’s direction, either. The filmThe Banker, starring Anthony Mackie and Samuel L. Jackson, earned an award for Outstanding Independent Motion Picture last year.

Across its television slate, Apple TV+ earned nominations for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for ‘Truth Be Told’ star and executive producer Octavia Spencer; Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for ‘See’ star Alfre Woodard, marking the series’ first NAACP Image Award nomination; and multi-Emmy Award winning global hit series ‘Ted Lasso’ received its first NAACP Image Award nominations with two nominations in the Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series category for writers Ashley Nicole Black and Leann Bowen.
