Today, Rockstar has released its second trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, as the release date was delayed just last week. The release date is confirmed for August 12, 2025 as it currently stands, and is also confirmed via the trailer that it is on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch.The footage for the trailer was captured on PlayStation 5, and it introduces more characters to the story.Much like a movie trailer, it shows many of the shots and scenes of Leonida, which is Rockstar’s take on the state of Florida. Vice City, being Miami, will be the central hub of the story. With Leonida being advertised with tourism marketing on the website, much of the state appears to be navigable.
The Character Establishment for GTA VI
From the first trailer, two protagonists were established without much context. Now,Rockstarhas provided names and a backstory for each of the main characters. The trailer begins with Jason Duval, who is looking for an easy life but keeps ending up in the same spots he started off in. He grew up surrounded by grifters and crooks, but does have a military background as he joined the armed forces to escape that. Jason wound up running drugs in the Leonida Keys.

The trailer shows him picking up his female accomplice from prison, as the guard asks if he has been there before. Lucia Caminos grew up as an in-ring fighter and started at a young age. This landed her in prison and luck bailed her out of that situation. Lucia joins up with Jason as she aims to have the good life her mother preached about. A life with Jason has Lucia believing as the way out of this life situation.
Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.
A Number of Other Characters and Plot Points
The updated Grand Theft Auto VIwebsiteintroduces these characters and more.The site introduces you to Cal Hampton, who is Jason’s friend that appears to be more on the conspiracy side of life. He’s quoted as saying, “There are way too many birds flying around in perfect formation.” Cal lives at the low tide of America and is happy with his casual paranoia. He’s an associated of Brian Heder, who is a classic drug runner from the peak of the industry in the Keys. Brian is also friends with Jason.
Development Is a Long, Long Road with GTAVI 2025 Release Trailer
Boobie Ike is a Vice City legend who came from the streets and is now a mogul in the city. He runs multiple business that stem from drug money while he partners with the aspiring music mogul Dre’Quan. The two run Only Raw Records as they work towards a viral music hit. Dre’Quan comes from being a hustler rather than a gangster when making ends meet on the street. His goal was always to break into the music industry.
Other notes about the world of Vice City and Leonida as a whole includes unique environments for each neighborhood in the city, a full Leonida Keys complete with tropical archipelago, the Grassrivers featuring gators and everything imaginable in the wetlands, Port Gellhorn which fits the description of an abandoned town, Ambrosia which is a town fueled by biker gans and the Allied Crystal sugar refinery, and finally Mount Kalaga which is a national landmark in the north for hunting, fishing and more.
