It’s been eight years since the launch ofPokemon Goback in 2016, and despite its age, the game has managed to maintain a healthy player base and top the charts. Niantic isn’t the perfect developer out there, but they’ve delivered some pretty incredible updates, time-limited events, and features that helped the game achieve success.

One of the most iconic things aboutPokemon Gois that it often tends to crossover with content from the mainline series. We’ve seen features such as Mega Evolution and limited-time edition mons themed around specific games coming to the title. However, the developer still needs to bring the most iconic features from the mainline games, which can elevate the experience.
Pokemon Go Still Doesn’t Have Turn-Based Combat
Well, there’s no doubt thatPokemon Gohas done a solid job bringing mechanics from the mainline series to fit within the framework of this mobile spin-off game. Many in the community believe that eventually, we’ll also get to see turn-based combat being implemented into the game, but this has yet to happen.
The Pokémon Go Community Is Locked Into a Measuring Contest of the Best Kind
If you’re unfamiliar, the mainline Pokemon games have been using a turn-based combat system from day one that’s relatively easy to understand, allows for a surprising amount of depth, makes it accessible for everyone, and is challenging enough for pro players. Trainers on Reddit can’t help but wonder why Niantic has brought the popular system to the game yet.
It’s quite simple and ends up incorporating elemental attacks, defensive moves, buffs, and all that other stuff with JRPGs, of which Pokemon is. It allows gamers to move their mons’ in and out for strategic advantage but keeps things straightforward enough.

However, let’s not forget that integrating new systems into a game, especially one as complex asPokemon Go, is hard. Turn-based combat could be beneficial as it doesn’t require the constant communication between servers and clients that the real-time system requires.
If the studio ever brings this system to the game, it would be by far the most significant change we’ve ever seen. Let’s hope they listen to the community and finally revamp the PvP fights with the well-known system.

Pokemon Go is Bringing Another Mainline Game Feature
According to recent leaks and updates, Niantic is allegedly working on bringing Dynamax and Gigantamax systems for mobile games. This is good news for fans who might be soured by the recent surge of controversies the title has faced, including disappointing Mega Rayquaza raid day.
The Dynamax mechanic is a feature that was found in Gen 8’sPokemon Sword and Shieldtitles, which allowed a player’ mon’ to temporarily grow into a huge size, boosting stats and giving them new moves. Gigantamax is another version of this feature that allows certain creatures to get a special form and use G-Max moves.

Pokemon Go Change Will Result in a Huge Increase to Bans for Players, and It’s Not Your Fault
The Gigantamax forms are undoubtedly some of the coolest and most terrifying-looking ones in the entire franchise.Adding this mechanic toPokemon Gois a smart moveby the developers to regain the lost player count in recent years.
It’s not clear how Dynamax and Gigantamax would work in the mobile game. Even the Mega Evolutions didn’t follow the path of mainline games, so we can’t expect the upcoming feature to either.

With that said, isPokemon Gomissing any other crucial feature from the mainline series? If so, let us know in the comments.
