Waking up one day and discovering that you are a royalty all along is everyone’s dream. Mia Thermopolis is a shy and clumsy teenager thrown into a loop and finds out that she is a princess. Not just that, she is also the apparent heir to the throne.
She moves to Genovia, a small European principality as she starts her journey into living the royal life. She receives etiquette lessons from her grandmother, Queen Clarisse Renaldi, on how to act, talk and walk like a true princess.
Mean Girls (2004)
When home-schooled Cady Heron moved to Illinois, she gets to experience the life of a student in public school. The social cliques divided the student body and each one has its own tacit laws. She unwittingly finds herself thrown into one of the popular cliques headed by the queen bee herself, Regina George. Soon Cady realizes that everything has a cost.
This classic chick flick is a good mix of drama, comedy, musical, and the typical high school-themed genre. It’s also surprisingly a good film to watch on Christmas.
The Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants (2005)
Four friends who travel to different places during summer stay connected to each other by a pair of jeans that perfectly fits all of them. It is a unique storytelling about friendship, trust, and young adulthood. The movie is the perfect companion for slow days in summer and even on a cozy winter night.
The film is based on the novel by Ann Brashares and wasadapted to the big screen. It received generally favorable reviews for its heartwarming tale and realistic portrayals of teenage life.
The Devil Wears Prada (2006)
Andrea Sachs is a young graduate who aspires to become a journalist. She goes to New York and becomes the assistant of one of the biggest magazine editors, the ruthless and demanding Miranda Priestly. She learns that a job like hers requires so much effort, patience, and sacrifice. In the end, Andy’s hard work gets rewarded.
